Some people call it “life balance,” and I appreciate that. But the truth is deeper. As a part-time stay-at-home dad since 1999, and the father of two adult children with special needs, there have been many seasons — and still are — when my life looked externally “out of balance.” Yet it was well-ordered, because I was living out the order God has placed within all of us.
Well ordered leadership isn’t about giving every area equal time. It’s about keeping first things first — a God-given hierarchy of love and priority that steadies everything else:
When these stay in order — even in the hardest, busiest, most “unbalanced” seasons — there is a deep peace that the world can’t give. This inventory helps you name where you are today, without shame, so you can keep first things first.

“Hi, I’m Jim — and I understand what it’s like for life to feel out of balance and out of order, because that was me. In the early 2000s, as a young CEO, I was chasing hard after success. I was working far too much, I was twenty-five pounds overweight, and though it looked like I was winning on the outside, my life was unbalanced and, honestly, unholy on the inside.
But God was not finished with me. Through the power of the Holy Spirit — and through faithful spiritual mentors and excellent coaches who walked with me — the Lord began to bring true holy order into my life. Little by little, He reordered my priorities, restored my health, healed my pace, and taught me to keep first things first: God, my wife, my children, and then my work.
Today I get to offer to others the very thing that changed everything for me. That’s why I do this work — not from a pedestal, but as someone who has walked the road, stumbled on it, and been lovingly led back into order by the grace of God. Wherever your inventory lands, I would be honored to walk with you toward the same peace.”
Jim has been married to his best friend, Maureen, since 1995, and a part-time stay-at-home dad since 1999. Together they have ten children — seven waiting for them in Heaven, and three here on earth.
Jim holds a Master of Divinity from St. John’s and a Master of Applied Psychology from St. Cloud State University, and is currently completing his Doctorate in Psychology (ABD). He has been licensed in Minnesota to provide counseling since 1997, and since 2001 has served as the earthly steward and CEO of a mental health clinic in St. Cloud, MN — The Center for Family Counseling.
Since 2002, Jim has specialized in coaching Christian business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, and their spouses across the United States and Canada — helping them build a holy, ordered life by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with Jim as both a Christian business coach and personal coach, and in each of these unique situations, Jim has been a trusted confidant. When work situations had become very difficult, Jim was able to validate the feelings I was having and gave me great insights and ideas on how to move forward. His advice has led to much more life balance for me and the team I work with. I would not hesitate to recommend Jim as a business coach. His faith and compassion will help anyone in any type of situation.
Deb HuschleGod has blessed Jim with a remarkable combination of coaching ability, counseling skills and life experience. I have been blessed by working with Jim and receiving the fruits of these gifts. I am an extremely busy Christian husband, father and business owner. It’s easy for me to fall into the trap of pushing harder to reach new goals, sometimes to the detriment of my own well-being. By receiving coaching with Jim and using his four-step process, I gained a fresh perspective and practical tools that brought me renewed peace. By focusing on what really matters and practicing self-care, I regained balance in my life. I’m still busy and pursuing goals, but the journey is much more enjoyable and in alignment with my calling.
Dustin RiechmannAs a Christian business owner in our secular world, it is such a blessing to have a Christian coach. I’ve been working with Jim for years and we have built an incredible relationship with each other. I will go to Jim when I have some tough decisions to make and he is consistently able to help me. I can send him an email or a text and he gets back to me within the day, sometimes within hours. It’s great to have someone to outsource stress, as Jim likes to say. I would highly recommend him for any of your business and life coaching needs. Everything is confidential, and having a person that you can trust makes a whole world of difference. I contribute much of my success to the Holy Spirit using Jim to bring more personal and professional balance.
Joel WollumAfter five years from my original business launch, I realized I needed help from an outside coach — not only to make better business decisions, but most importantly to find a better balance to my life. I wanted a man of faith who shared my priorities: God first, then husband, then father. A successful business at the expense of my relationship with the Lord, my wife, or kids would mean nothing. I also wanted someone accomplished in business, and a man of prayer — the hallmark of a good coach. Jim Otremba has been my life & business coach for over five years now. His accountability and guidance have helped me grow professionally and spiritually, become a better employer and manager, more productive in my work, and most importantly, a better husband and father. My small investment of 90 minutes a month has delivered an unexpected increase in enjoyment both at work and at home. I am grateful for Jim’s investment into my life — it has borne much fruit.
Josh SandenI owned my own business as a certified massage therapist and practiced massage for 17 years. I cannot say enough about how helpful my coaching sessions have been with Jim! The empowerment and confidence that he has given me has been life-changing. It has kept me true to who I am and close to Jesus. I highly recommend Jim to other women business owners, CEOs, or managers. I am so grateful — thank you, Jim.
Elaine MullenmasterI sought Christian coaching from Jim Otremba a few years back, and I can confidently say that he made a tremendous impact on my life during some difficult times. Jim is an empathetic and attentive business coach who provided a safe and non-judgmental environment for me to delve into my thoughts and emotions. His four-step approach — identifying areas for growth, achieving quick wins to enable progress, restructuring my thinking, and offering strategies to maintain momentum — translated into tangible progress in my life. Jim’s insightful questions and gentle guidance were instrumental in helping me gain new perspectives and coping strategies. I am forever grateful for Jim’s support and guidance, and I wholeheartedly endorse him.
Michelle SuperI owned and operated a long-term care business for over 10 years before I sold it, and for about half those years I hired Jim as my executive Christian coach. The Holy Spirit used Jim’s four-step process and empowered me to thrive at both my faith and my business — persevering through so many challenges of being a successful owner, CEO, father, husband, and child of God. As Christian business owners, we can take so much on that we neglect taking care of ourselves. That was the case for me, and Jim helped me restructure things to accomplish a healthy lifestyle with more balance. His approach to leadership and living a life based on a scriptural perspective has impacted me for the rest of my life. I highly recommend Jim’s coaching to any Christian business owner, entrepreneur, or executive looking to attain a better personal and professional balance.
